Nondestructive indentation of metallic components.

Indentation is a nondestructive mechanical technique for the determination of mechanic properties such as yield strength, tensile strength, hardening by deformation coefficients. GIE group has an ESYS 10 equipment and highly trained professionals able to determine the mechanic properties of each in-site component by means of automatic indentation

Service Description

For this test, and indentation is performed in several cycles with a spherical tip. Simultaneously, charge and displacement are measured using analog sensors of great accuracy and linearity, and from these, the material’s parameters are calculated.

The indentation tip has a 1.57 mm of diameter tungsten carbon ball, a load cell and the LVDT for displacement measurement. All readings are stored and then processed using a control and processing software to obtain the tensile curve, with which are then calculated the yield strength, tensile strength, and the coefficient and exponent of hardening by deformation
